Sierra Club’s supporters have been pushing hard this election. Over 7,563 of you signed up to write over 200,000 letters to swing state voters! And we didn’t stop there: volunteers have been calling voters in the key states of Michigan and Pennsylvania urging them to get out and vote.

If you attended last week’s livestream, you heard me talk about the importance of this election not only for who wins the White House, but for what this means to our crucial climate work on the state level. 

In 2022, we were able to flip a couple of seats with pro-environmental candidates in Minnesota, which set the stage for us to pass a 100% clean energy bill and a transportation package that addresses climate pollution. In Michigan, we gained a pro-environment majority in both chambers of the state legislature, which allowed us to move a 100% clean energy bill forward.

This election will impact every level of our government and society. We don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. But we must be ready to ensure every vote is counted and to defend our democracy.
