DEFENDING DESOTO COUNTY
------------------------------------------------------------

As your District Attorney, I am deeply committed to accountability and transparency. That is why I am proud to highlight a few recent achievements that underscore our commitment to ensuring criminals face consequences for their actions and defending DeSoto County. Below is some of those recent highlights. Once again, thank you for allowing me to serve you and your family.

Attempted First-Degree Murder Suspect Found Guilty

On September 26th, Brandon Brinkley, from Horn Lake, was found guilty by a jury in DeSoto County. “Today, we send a clear message to those who commit crimes in DeSoto County: you cannot escape justice. If you harm our community, you will face tough prosecutors who will show no leniency. We are going to hit you with everything we have.” - D.A. Barton

Safeguarding Our Community From Predators

This month, Truitt Neal, Jr., a 33-year old Southaven man, was found guilty of the possession of child pornography. “My office will not tolerate such depravity, and we will fight fiercely against any form of child exploitation. Truitt will now have to answer to the despicable crime that he committed.” - D.A. Barton

Tackling Illegal Immigration

Last month, my office partnered with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to enforce state and federal immigration laws. “We are committed to protecting our community and ensuring that those who break our laws are found and are removed from our community. We will continue to work with ICE to ensure those illegal immigrants are sent back to their country of origin.” - D.A. Barton

Crisis Response K9 Unit

Our office is dispatching a new tool when responding to calls involving a potential mental health crisis, major emergency or crisis. “He is trained and ready for any emergency, whether it is an officer involved shooting or a crime involving a minor child as the victim. You name it, he is trained for it.” - D.A. Barton

Investing In Tomorrow’s Leaders

As District Attorney, it is a privilege for my office and me to make a positive impact on our youth. We have greatly enjoyed visiting classrooms with K9 Bruce for high-five Fridays. It is a great opportunity to educate kids regarding the work we do to keep them safe and offer encouragement for them to always do their best.
