The past few months have demonstrated resilience in people and communities across the globe – and New Leaders Council is no different.

Our fellows and alumni are supporting their neighbors and communities during this crisis - demonstrating the power of the NLC community in action. In Boston, 2020 Fellow Dr. Allister Martin led a campaign with his cohort to change a racially-biased policy outlining the criteria for ventilator allocation. At the beginning of March, NLC made the decision to switch to all digital programming. Our 2020 Fellows have connected locally and nationally continuing their leadership development on trainings on communications, fundraising, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

NLC chapters are skillfully pivoting from event-based fundraising this spring to digital engagements. NLC operates on a pay-it-forward model, where this year's fellows fundraise to ensure next year's cohort can attend at no cost. And this is just the beginning of the work we have led over the past few months. Our fellows and alumni have stepped up for the NLC movement and for one another – supporting those who are experiencing illness, loss, and job and family challenges. Below are more stories of their resilient leadership.

Millennials are the Unseen Leaders in the Coronavirus Crisis

NLC in Action
Led by current NLC fellow Dr. Alister Martin, NLC Boston fellows created a campaign to change a racially-biased policy outlining the criteria for ventilator allocation at MA hospitals. On April 20, the Crisis Standards of Care Advisory Committee reversed course and revised the guidelines based on the activism of these NLC Fellows. Learn more about their work here: [link removed]

Congratulations to Our Newest Elected Officials
Congratulations to four #NLCFamily members on their general election victories last month in Wisconsin. 2014 Fellow David Crowley is the new Milwaukee County Executive. NLC Wisconsin Co-Founder Mike Bare, 2018 Fellow Alex Joers, and 2019 Fellow Sarah Smith were all elected to the Dane County Board of Supervisors in Madison, WI. NLC Joins #GivingTuesdayNow Movement
For 15 years, NLC has trained and supported 9,000 of our country’s emerging leaders. Now in this time of crisis, those leaders are coming together to serve their communities when we need them most.
