Friend --
Back in 1994 when I attended the Marine Corps Infantry Officer
Course, the instructors taught me that successful leaders are willing
to listen to feedback and adapt their combat plans when circumstances
require it.
Fast forward to the present.? As I type this message, I am
listening to Governor Pritzker refuse to make any corrections
whatsoever to his Restore Illinois Plan that he unveiled last
week.
I'd been calling for a plan since March 16th.? Senator Dan
McConchie and I finally wrote our own plan that we published on April
28th.? You can read our plan here.
I'm glad Governor Pritzker finally revealed his plan.? But his plan
contains major flaws that I privately pointed out to him almost
immediately.? Aside from acknowledging my suggestions, he hasn't made
any changes.
The three biggest shortfalls in his plan are: 1) making
normalization contingent on a cure or a vaccine, those conditions may
never occur; 2) requiring 28 days of stabilization, rather than the 14
days used by other states and recommended by the White House; and 3)
keeping group event sizes extremely low, regardless of the safety
protocols in place.
It's been over a week since he announced his plan.? Unfortunately,
Governor Pritzker hasn't listened to those who have made good faith
suggestions.? He hasn't updated his plan at all.
It's becoming increasingly clear.? With JB Pritzker as our
governor, Illinois doesn't just face a budget deficit.??
We face a leadership deficit, as well.
Thanks for reading and stay safe.??
S/F,
Paul?
