Fearful of contacting voters? Read this email and then consider my
argument for doing [ [link removed] ]one call shift or [ [link removed] ]one door knocking shift to
defeat Trump.
After knocking doors in Michigan this weekend, I want to make the case to
you that it’s worth your time – and possibly conquering your fears – to
contact voters in key presidential states today and Tuesday.
First, let’s acknowledge some of the top fears/reasons NOT to volunteer:
* It’s awkward. Voters will be annoyed if I approach them.
* My time is valuable. I’m too busy.
* I have other things I can do to help.
* Others are already volunteering. After a while, it’s too much.
* No voters are still making up their mind.
If you thought any of the above, you’re human. Here’s my rebuttal…
As PCCC staff knocked doors and organized volunteers in Michigan,
Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia this week, we discovered these things:
* Some voters who came to the door skeptically were RELIEVED to learn we
were talking about the election (and not selling vacuums or collecting
on credit card debt). They felt respected.
* Many voters were undecided on WHO to support.
* Many infrequent voters were unsure WHETHER they would vote.
* Many voters started off assuring us they would vote Democratic, and
then asked, "Now, where do I vote again?"
* Many voters were being contacted for the first time by a real live
person, even though the election is here!
It felt SO FREAKING GOOD to leave a conversation knowing that we just won
a vote for Kamala Harris and Democrats. (So much better than doom
scrolling.)
For our nation’s future, can you commit to at least one shift calling from
home or door knocking to help Kamala Harris defeat Donald Trump?
YES – Show me [ [link removed] ]call shifts and [ [link removed] ]door knocking shifts to choose from!
NO – I really can’t, but [ [link removed] ]I’ll chip in $10 to help you mobilize
volunteers in presidential battleground states.
We hope to see you, or hear you, soon. Thanks for being a bold
progressive.
