Pete and Sandy
Pete Dahlberg & Sandy Moon

Language Arts Teachers

Clear Creek Middle School, JCSD#1

Pete and Sandy are middle school Language Arts teachers at Clear Creek Middle School in Buffalo. They have been working hard to learn more about the science of reading and create a scheduling framework and a new position that will give Pete the opportunity to be an interventionist to support struggling readers. They both attended the Embracing Literacy conference in Laramie this year, and are also working on other professional development to grow their knowledge on how to support struggling readers. These two have ideas and a work ethic to help lead their school (and hopefully in time the high school) to continue improving reading instruction for all of Johnson County's students.

“There has been lots of learning and change happening in our Elementary world, which will impact younger students moving forward, but the need to educate and intervene with readers still struggling at the middle and high school level is still important. These two are starting something amazing to save more learners with strong structured literacy instruction!”

- Jessica Kavitz Kindergarten Teacher, Meadowlark Elementary, JCSD#1
