During these extraordinarily challenging times for the state of Israel, Ambassador Michael Herzog, together with his wife have been resolute and stalwart defenders of the Jewish state. The Ambassador comes from one of the most prominent Israeli families. His father, Chaim Herzog was the sixth President of the state of Israel; his grandfather, Rabbi Yitzchak HaLevi Herzog, was the Chief Rabbi of Israel from 1936 to 1959, and his uncle, Abba Eban served as Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Israel’s foreign minister as well as Ambassador to the United States. Aside from that, Ambassador Herzog has served as a Brigadier General in the IDF and the Director of the IDF’s Strategic Planning Division.
This past year, Ambassador Michael Herzog has had to navigate through the demands and difficulties posed by October 7th, 2023, with the Iranian-backed proxies of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthi, as well as the Islamic Republic of Iran, aiming for the ultimate elimination of the state of Israel, as well an explosion of antisemitism within the United States, particularly on our nation’s college campuses. This all requires the well-honed skills of a superior diplomat.
Mrs. Shirin Herzog, aside from being an accomplished senior Israeli attorney, has an unparalleled golden voice.
EMET is deeply privileged to be able to honor them both.
At our annual dinner, held on November 19th in Washington, DC, EMET will also be honoring Mosab Hassan Yousef, Representative Elise Stefanik, (R-NY), Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), and Shabbos Kestenbaum, who is suing Harvard University for their rampant atmosphere of antisemitism. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
