There's been a lot of talk about the Heritage Foundation's "Project 2025", John. It's time for the truth.
Project 2025 is a detailed and specific plan for what the next Republican president could (or in the eyes of some, should) do with his power, including the preparation needed to put the plan into action. Organized by the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing, dark money, inside-the-beltway, anti-voting think tank, and advised by more than 100 conservative groups, Project 2025 has put forth a 922-page list of policy recommendations, going agency by agency in the federal government.
This is not an unattainable "wish list" -- this is carefully crafted to be a list of things the next president’s appointees really can do, put together by many people who served in top posts under Trump last time and could well do so again. Basically, it’s an attempt to make the second Trump term way more organized and effective than the first.
This is a good place to mention that Project 2025 is also collecting a database of names of conservatives who have already pledged loyalty to Donald Trump and could easily take jobs in his potential second term, willing to start executing this plan on day one.

Project 2025 covers a lot of different things, but basically falls into three buckets:
➜ Expanding the power of the president. Various pieces of the plan attempt to consolidate executive branch power in the hands of the president and his political appointees and away from nonpartisan civil service employees and Congress. For example, Donald Trump himself could be directing voter suppression efforts through the Department of Justice.
➜ Long-term conservative policy priorities. Slashing regulations on businesses, especially in regards to the environment. Ending climate change mitigation efforts. Reducing programs to help the poor, like food programs or educational requirements. Eradicating civil rights protections, including access to the ballot and our ability to vote. The list goes on, but if you've heard it from a conservative politician over the last forty years, it's likely in this plan.
➜ An extreme religious agenda. Further federal restrictions on abortion access. New, possibly expansive restrictions on contraception coverage. Outlawing pornography and imprisoning members of that industry. Banning LGBTQ books in libraries. Rolling back or ending LGBTQ programs in schools.
Project 2025 would fundamentally alter just about every aspect of American life. We must make sure every American is aware of what their vote might mean and how this expansive blueprint would truly impact themselves, their friends, and their family before it is time for them to cast a ballot.
