The clock is ticking. In just one week, Greenpeace will face Shell and Equinor in court to stop two illegal oil and gas fields in UK waters. It looks like you haven’t signed our urgent petition yet - it will only take one minute. Please can you add your name?

If we win, it could be the beginning of the end for fossil fuels in the UK - and the start of a better future with cheaper energy, less pollution, a safer climate and green jobs. The stakes are high.

 

An incredible 40,000 people have signed our petition to stop Equinor and Shell’s destructive Rosebank and Jackdaw fields. Will you help us reach 50,000 before next week’s court case? Picture this: Shell and Equinor are confronted by the strength of tens of thousands of voices and names demanding an end to their reckless drilling.

Shell and Equinor made nearly a combined £10bn in profits between July-September alone this year. [1] [2] As these grotesque profits were being announced, Storm Trami killed 136 people in the Philippines, and severe flash flooding in Spain killed 205 people [3] [4] Disasters intensified by fossil fuel-driven climate change, tearing through communities and leaving behind unimaginable destruction. 

 

But Shell and Equinor are hell-bent on squeezing every last drop from the North Sea, ignoring the science and suffering they are causing - all to line their shareholders' pockets.

 

That’s why next week on November 12th, we’re heading to court to stop their destructive plans for Jackdaw and Rosebank. We’re going to take each and every signature with us to that courtroom, a powerful reminder that the world is watching. Can you help us send shockwaves through these oil giants' boardrooms and put an end to Rosebank and Jackdaw?

Rosebank and Jackdaw were approved unlawfully with the help of the previous government. [5] Shell and Equinor ignored the climate impact of burning the extracted oil and gas - a practice the Supreme Court has since ruled illegal. [6]

 

The new government has acknowledged these fields are illegal, as have the companies themselves! Shell and Equinor are desperate, they know they’re losing but they won’t go down without a fight.

 

This is our moment, with your help, we can put the finishing blow to Rosebank and Jackdaw and show these climate wreckers that they’re not above the law.
