Dear Fellow Idahoans:

This is a call to action!

Tomorrow, May 14, 2020, the Idaho Falls City Council will hold a vote to add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” (SOGI) to the list of protected classes under the city's non-discrimination ordinance. We need YOUR help to contact members of the Idaho Falls City Council and ask them to oppose this proposed ordinance. Family-centered policies are a priority to Idahoans, and we hope to carry on and promote our shared values.

“Sexual orientation” and “gender identity” (SOGI) ordinances have had a serious and negative effect on citizens of the United States. For example, as provided by our friends at the Family Policy Alliance:
  • Jack Phillips, a Colorado cake artist who refused to create a custom cake for a same-sex wedding, was ordered to violate his conscience and religious beliefs by making cakes for same-sex weddings and providing sensitivity training for his employees.
  • Barronelle Stutzman, a grandmotherly florist in Washington State, faces losing her retirement savings and her business after she declined to create custom floral arrangements for a same-sex wedding.
  • Elaine Huguenin, a New Mexico photographer, was found guilty of discrimination for turning down a request to photograph a same-sex wedding and was ordered to pay thousands of dollars of legal fees.
  • Blaine Adams, a Kentucky business owner who declined a request to create a custom T-shirt for a local gay Pride event, was forced to make the shirts and attend “diversity training”.
Moreover, some SOGI ordinances allow biological men to access female restrooms, and other gender identifying areas; and in doing so, constitute a greater risk for biological genders carrying out their own rights.

At the Madison Liberty Institute, we believe that religious freedom and privacy rights are core fundamental beliefs that cannot be sacrificed with nondiscrimination ordinances. It is our responsibility to preserve and protect our fundamental rights. Otherwise, the consequences are apparent.

We need YOUR help to ensure the right decisions are made for our cities. Please send a message or contact the Idaho Falls City Council IMMEDIATELY... ask them to vote “NO” on the proposed SOGI ordinance.
EMAIL THE IDAHO FALLS CITY COUNCIL
Don't allow your elected officials to push their agendas through city hall without first hearing the voice of the people in-person. The advancement of SOGI ordinances such as this is clearly an attack on our privacy and religious freedom!

We need your help to stop it. Will you join us?

Sincerely,
The Madison Liberty Institute

PS. Help spread the word, please share this message with your family and friends.
