No matter the political landscape, community organizing continues. Grassroots movements led by Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color have moved our communities towards justice for generations. Movements will continue to build with creativity, community care, and liberatory vision that does not begin or end with who holds office.
As election day approaches, our work at Headwaters Foundation for Justice remains the same. Headwaters is here to resource community organizing and help build strong movements in all political conditions. We have been steadfastly funding the brilliance and power of grassroots movements for the last 40 years, and we will continue to do so today, tomorrow, and for the next 40 years of our shared fight towards justice.
Grassroots movements don’t always get the headlines, big donors, or proper credit for moving us closer to justice. But, at Headwaters, we know that grassroots organizing is what drives our communities toward collective liberation – a future where Black liberation, Native self- determination, gender justice, Queer joy, decolonization, and more are realized. That’s why we center organizing in our work and why our focus as a funder is grounded in organizing – and always will be, even as elections seasons come and go.
Headwaters is here for movements for the long haul. We hope you’ll join us in showing up with and for Minnesota’s movements and committing to working to advance equity and justice in your community. The fight for justice takes all of us, showing up how we can, over months, years, and generations.
Know your rights, follow your conscience, and take care of each other. If you need information about voting tomorrow, you can find your polling place, see what’s on your ballot, know your rights for election day, and know your rights for voting with a felony conviction.
The fight for collective liberation does not start or end tomorrow. We’re so grateful to be alongside you all in this work.
In solidarity,
Headwaters Foundation for Justice
