"Why are you still asking me for money?" is probably 1 of the top 5 questions I get right now. (The others usually involve asking for more supplies for our field offices or what's on Ashley's schedule.)

There are 2 reasons we're still fundraising, John:

1. We made ad buys and other big purchases based on what we projected we'd raise. See, the earlier we book things like TV spots, the cheaper it is. BUT, we make those buys based on projections the Finance Team puts together on what they expect we will raise. If we don't hit our goals, we either have to make cuts or go into debt.

2. There are always last-minute expenses that come up. Sometimes a box of flyers for a field office gets wrecked, people's yard signs get stolen, or a surge of volunteers means we need more supplies for an office. If there's one thing I know about campaigns, it's to expect the unexpected. And usually dealing with the unexpected requires money.

So, that's why I'm still asking – with just 1 day to go and a $20,000 goal we're trying to hit – please pitch in $10 or more right now >>
