November 2024
‌
Dear John
“If enough people had stood up on Kristallnacht and said, ‘Enough!’ then the course of history would have been different. But they did not."
These are the words of Eddie Jaku, a Holocaust survivor who lived through Kristallnacht or "the night of broken glass" on November 9, 1938 when Jewish businesses, homes and synagogues were desecrated, burned and destroyed.
While bias, hatred and marginalization still exist in our society, each of us has the power to stand up to them and make a difference. As we approach the 86th commemoration of that tragic day, we encourage you to explore the resources below to help you and your students act as allies when witnessing antisemitism or any form of hate.
