Howdy John, it’s Shad, Chair of the Colorado Dems.
Election Day is in just two days. I know many of us are feeling anxious and worried about the outcome.
Here’s how I see it: this has been a tremendously challenging and historically long campaign, and I've been inspired not just by our groundbreaking and phenomenal leader, Vice President Kamala Harris, and her campaign — but by all of you. We've been through a lot together. I don’t have to remind you how many historic events have happened in the past few months. Now, the polls have us neck and neck, and the early vote so far has shown that both sides have a chance at winning not just the presidency, but key congressional and local seats across the nation and right here in Colorado.
This election will be close — we always knew it would be. Let me tell you what gives me confidence going into Tuesday: At every level and in every race, we have not ceded any ground and our volunteer efforts have kept up a frenetic pace.
Ever since Vice President Kamala Harris was officially nominated during our convention in Chicago, she has run an exceptional campaign in record time. At every turn and every challenge, she has met the moment (and then some). While Vice President Harris has shown she is more than ready for the Oval Office, our job has been making sure our country is ready to elect her. I believe we will do just that on Tuesday.
In Colorado, we've been incredibly inspired by our candidates and campaigns. We truly have top-tier candidates in every battleground House race, and in key county and state legislative contests across the state, especially in rural areas. Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo, Trisha Calvarese, and Adam Frisch have all run excellent campaigns in races the nation is watching, representing their communities and leaving no stone unturned. Our county commissioner candidates have built campaigns centered around their communities that put the needs of their counties above playing politics.
As a Chair from rural Colorado, we’ve worked hard to refocus and amplify our efforts to build infrastructure and win in far-flung places, investing in counties and local candidates in the high country, the Western Slope, eastern plains, and in northern and southern Colorado for the first time ever through the Colorado County Comeback. We’ve also developed a game-changing deep canvassing program in CO-8, where we have the chance to reelect Yadira Caraveo, and state lawmakers that’ll determine our legislative strength next year.
As the late great Senator Paul Wellstone said “we all do better when we all do better,” and by building Democratic strength in rural Colorado, we have a real shot at giving folks community-centered leadership over MAGA ideologues.
When we compete everywhere, we’ve got a shot at winning anywhere. That’s why you’ll see exceptional Democratic candidates in races in every corner of our state and on every part of our ballot.
John, with two days left, let’s tune out the noise, turn off the pessimism, transform our anxiety into ACTION — and win big in this election.
