Dear John,
This Friday, May 15, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the latest coronavirus stimulus package. As drafted, it would be devastating for farmed animals. |
|
This proposal, the HEROES Act, raises two major concerns:
- It asks for funding to pay for horrific on-farm animal slaughter, which often includes slow suffocation of birds and slamming piglets headfirst into the ground.
- It fails to include language mandating slower slaughter-line speeds, which is needed to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect workers, consumers, and animals.
Stimulus funds should not be used for animal abuse. Urge your representative(s) to vote against the HEROES Act.
Thank you for speaking up.
Sincerely, |
