Hi John,
Election Day is 2 days away, and I know that we’re all inundated with ads and emails from political campaigns across the country. So, in the midst of all that noise, I wanted to take a moment to ask for your support in this final stretch, [[link removed]] and share my promise to you as a candidate for public office.
For starters, I wish we all listened to each other a bit more and talked over each other a bit less. During my time in Washington, I’ve seen that more often than not, politicians fight over petty differences that have little to do with the struggles that folks face every day. The only way to get through challenging times is by working together.
I also wish candidates sought to emulate the values of their voters and advocate for the priorities of their district, rather than their biggest donors or party leaders. The cornerstone of our democracy is rooted in a popularly responsive, people-first government – not one beholden to special interest groups or political parties.
And I wish that campaigns were more transparent with their supporters about their priorities and funding. Our team has worked hard to be as transparent as possible – I’ve always said that we’re powered by grassroots supporters like you, not corporate PACs, and I mean it. If every campaign were the same way, it’d go a long way in lowering the temperature in debates and reducing the influence of corporations and the super wealthy.
But if there was one thing I could change about campaigning, it would be fundraising. I hate having to come here and ask you all to chip in. But John, the hard truth is that I don’t have any other choice. Many of my colleagues spend their time dialing for dollars, but my focus has always been on my district and talking to my voters.
Here’s my promise to you. I’ll continue running the campaign that I’ve described above – a transparent, people-powered team that listens first and talks later – and only come to you with fundraising requests like these when I need to.
John, now is one of those times. The other side is running disingenuous ads against me, and we need to get our positive message out. I’d be so grateful if you could help my team finish strong with a donation of any amount today. [[link removed]]
