Dear John,
Tomorrow we’ll be talking with Valarie Kaur and V (formerly known as Eve Ensler) about rage. Will you join us?
We understand that there are a lot of emotions bubbling up inside of us these days. At the top of our list right now is RAGE.
COVID-19 is highlighting and exacerbating so many injustices. Whether it’s the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, the devastating impacts of COVID-19 on communities of color, the rollback of environmental protections, the severe lack of support for community members returning home from prison, the increase of domestic violence during lockdown and on and on – there is a lot to be angry about.
This virtual gathering is part of a series we’re hosting with Valarie Kaur about revolutionary love. What does rage have to do with love? Sometimes, in order to show up to the fight with fierce and grounded love, you need to first rage in a safe container. Just like grief, rage has something to teach us. It’s there for a reason.
To reimagine and build a better world, we have to learn how to harness our rage.
“Rage is fierce, disciplined, and visionary...the aim of divine rage is not vengeance but to reorder the world.” - Valarie Kaur
This is going to be a potent gathering. Valarie will share excerpts and practices from her forthcoming book on revolutionary love. She and V will talk about their own experiences with rage and how we can learn from and work with our rage to create a better future.
V (formerly Eve Ensler) is the Tony award winning playwright of the theatrical phenomenon, The Vagina Monologues. She is founder of V-Day and One Billion Rising.
As a survivor of violence, V dedicates her life to ending violence against all women, girls and Mother Earth.
We’ll also have a special performance from our very own Tem Blessed, Arts and Culture Organizer at Dream Corps. Tem is a socially conscious Hip-Hop Artist who has shared the stage with national recording artists Common, KRS-1, and Ludacris. His art and music is designed to inspire his audience towards positive change.
We hope to see you tomorrow!
- the Dream Corps Team
PS: Can’t make it tomorrow but want to keep this virtual series with Valarie going? Contribute to this and other work Dream Corps is doing to fight indignities and injustices during COVID-19 and beyond.
