Team, I just introduced a critical new bill that you should know about:
We all want to get back to work, and it’s crucial that we do so safely and systemically. But I’ve talked with business leaders, and it’s obvious that right now, there isn’t enough clear, reliable information on how to get our economy going while continuing to fight the virus.
The Essential Worker Protection Act will offer transparent, coordinated safety guidelines for workplaces and workers. Business leaders want to make informed decisions, and this bill will give them the resources to do so.
Every day, our frontline workers show up to jobs that could expose them to this deadly virus. Providing potentially lifesaving information is the least we can do for them. If you agree that we need to look out for our essential workers, sign our petition in favor of the Essential Worker Protection Act!
This is as simple as it gets: we need the latest information on how to combat this virus.
This is especially true here in Michigan, where we’re suffering through one of the worst COVID-19 fatality rates in the country along with the highest unemployment rate in the nation.
That’s why I believe publishing safety guidelines for our workforce is a no-brainer -- shouldn’t the folks on the frontlines have the best safety information our scientists have to offer?
