This weekend, the IDF revealed two daring operations that commando units carried out in Syria and Lebanon.
Around 20 Israeli naval commandos disguised as Lebanese security forces captured a Hezbollah terrorist in the northern Lebanese city of Batroun — well north of Beirut and around 90 miles away from Israeli territory.
The captured Hezbollah operative, Imad Amhaz, is a "significant source of knowledge" for Hezbollah’s naval force, according to the IDF. Amhaz was taken by speedboat to Israel late Friday night to be questioned by the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504 — which specializes in human intelligence — to learn more about Hezbollah’s naval operations.
While the IDF has targeted Hezbollah terrorists and infrastructure throughout Lebanon, its ground operations have been focused in southern Lebanon, making this raid in the north particularly noteworthy.
CCTV footage captured part of the raid, while the surveillance recordings from the building Amhaz was captured from were reportedly deleted.
Meanwhile, the IDF revealed today that Israeli commandos carried out a raid in southern Syria where they captured an operative conducting surveillance for Iran.
The captured operative, Ali Suleiman al-Asi (pictured below in his IDF interrogation), is a Syrian who worked on behalf of Iran, collecting intelligence on IDF operations along the Israel-Syrian border "for future terror activity."
His arrest has "prevented and disrupted a future attack and led to the exposure of the modus operandi of Iranian entities on the Golan Heights front," the IDF said.
Iran’s supreme leader threatens America and Israel
In a video released by Iranian state media yesterday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said, "The enemies, whether the Zionist regime or the United States of America, will definitely receive a crushing response to what they are doing to Iran and the Iranian nation and to the resistance front."
The threat comes as Israeli intelligence indicates that the regime is planning to launch another major attack soon — either directly from Iran or through one of its terror proxies.
Hours after Khamenei’s speech, the U.S. administration — which has been warning Iran not to escalate — sent another message to the regime.
"We told the Iranians: We won't be able to hold Israel back, and we won't be able to make sure that the next attack will be calibrated and targeted as the previous one," a U.S. official said.
America must stand with Israel and ensure our ally has the resources needed to deter, defend against and confront Iran and its terrorist proxies.
America moves significant military assets to the region
Yesterday, U.S. Central Command announced that B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota had arrived in the Middle East.
The announcement comes the day after Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered the deployment of additional ballistic missile defense destroyers, fighter squadron and tanker aircraft, and several U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers to the region.
The B-52 is a massive long-range, heavy bomber that is capable of dropping or launching the widest array of weapons in the U.S. inventory.
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
