Hi John.
In case you missed it, I wanted to make sure you saw the good news –
Medicare finished negotiating lower prices for ten crucial prescription drugs. Thanks to these negotiations, prices for these medicines are being reduced by up to 79 percent! I was glad to stand up to Big Pharma and vote for the law that finally made this hard-fought progress possible.
This is a huge win for Kansans. Click here to learn more about it and see how much you might save.
More than 74,000 Kansas seniors will see their prescription drug prices go down thanks to this much needed reform.
Here are just a few examples of what this means –
• Prices for Enbrel, a prescription that treats rheumatoid arthritis, will be reduced by 67 percent. That’s a savings of $4,751 for the list price of a thirty-day supply.
• Prices for Imbruvica, a medicine for people with blood cancers, will be reduced by 38 percent. That’s a savings of $5,615 for the list price of a thirty-day supply.
• Prices for Stelara, a treatment for psoriasis and Crohn’s disease, will go down by two thirds. That’s a savings of $9,141 for the list price of a thirty-day supply.
This comes on top of other reforms due to the new law. That includes capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors.
There’s certainly a lot more work to do. That’s why I’m also supporting legislation to cap insulin prices at $35 a month for everyone, not just seniors. But this represents real, tangible progress that makes a difference in people's lives.
