I love watching basketball, and there is nothing more exciting than watching my beloved hometown Memphis Grizzlies. While the NBA season is just starting, election season is down to the wire, and the intensity of this moment reminds me of last December’s faceoff against the New Orleans Pelicans.

It’s the final quarter. The game is tied. Ja Morant, making his season return, is surrounded by three defenders as he goes for two. I’m holding my breath for what feels like forever. Is he going to make this shot?!

As the buzzer sounds, the ball goes in. My Grizzlies win—shutting down the Pelicans on their home court. Finally, I can breathe.

My team gave it everything they had until the very end and came out victorious. That’s a lesson we all have to remember this election season: This will come down to the wire, and we can’t stop now.
