John,
We’ve been closely watching the key legislative chambers that are likely to flip on Tuesday.
Back in the summer, Politico reported that Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania as the five states that were “the most likely to see legislative chambers flip in November.”
And just last week, Sabato’s Crystal Ball included those in a short list of the “most vulnerable to a party shift.”
All five of these states are on our list of priority states. We’ve been working hard to flip chambers in Arizona and New Hampshire; to hold chambers in Michigan and Minnesota; and to do both in Pennsylvania — flip the state senate and defend the state house.
The future of electoral maps in these five crucial states are at stake — and with these elections coming down to the wire, we need your help.

We’ve identified the places where your contribution will have an outsized impact. What you do right now may make the difference for some of these toss-up races:
- In Arizona, Republicans hold just a two-seat majority in both the state house and state senate. If we can help get out the vote and win a majority in both chambers, we can strengthen the state’s redistricting process.
- In New Hampshire, mid-cycle congressional redistricting is permitted, so the GOP could choose to rewrite their maps at any given moment. Democrats need to win majorities in the state house and state senate to prevent Republicans from engaging in mid-cycle partisan gerrymandering.
- In Michigan, Republicans are trying to take back the state house and end the Democratic trifecta we helped win in 2022. If they do, they could attempt to roll back progress on fair maps by targeting the state’s independent redistricting commission.
- In Minnesota, the Democrats hold a trifecta which helped enact Gov. Tim Walz’s bold agenda. Republicans only need to flip five seats to gain control of the state house and block all the amazing progress we’ve seen there this year.
- Pennsylvania is currently the only state in the country with a divided legislature (where Democrats hold one legislative chamber and Republicans hold the other), after Democrats flipped the state house in 2022. If we flip the state senate AND hold the state house, another Democratic trifecta will give us a route to redistricting reform.
The work is not over. What we do today, tomorrow, and Tuesday could make the difference in these extremely tight races.
Will you make a donation right now to help races like these all across the country?
Thank you,
NDRC HQ
