Tell Trader Joe's: Stop Carrying Israeli Products!

Dear John,

We are witnessing hell on earth in the middle east and an additional bit of purgatory in this election season. Luckily we are scheduled to be together for our Local Peace Economy gathering on Wednesday, November 6th 5pm PT / 8pm ET, to be nourished in the space of reconnection by the brilliant Mutima Imani, who has facilitated the work that reconnects for decades. She has dedicated her life to cultivating the peace economy. What can we learn from her?

Like many people working along the cultural edges, we’ve sat in facilitated spaces of change-makers and peace-workers. The organizers and leaders of these spaces invariably are sincere in their desire to activate the seeds of change in those gathered around a purpose. But most of us have witnessed where cracks form in these gatherings, where our internalized colonization creates friction and conflict, and we are often at odds with each other about how to prevent and repair the ruptures when they occur.

Mutima Imani is both a social justice visionary and a long-time facilitator. She has also witnessed the need to decolonize how we hold space for others in order to achieve our individual and collective visions of a Peace Economy to fruition. She will share her wisdom with us on Wednesday night. We hope you will join us.

Locally we have been taking our voices to Trader Joe’s to highlight for the management and the shoppers that there are goods from a country committing a genocide on their shelves. This action is easy to do, a great way to be together singing, and to have conversations with your local community about the war economy.  Reach out to [email protected] if you want support. And use our Trader Joe's Action Guide to take action in your community now!

If you were unable to join us for the last meeting or want to revisit the content from the last meeting, you can find the recording of the last call here.

We are always interested in your experiences with your local community and want to be in service to the important work you are doing. Please feel free to share your experiences and insights with our local peace economy listserv

If you have an idea for a local peace economy project and would like specific support bringing it to life, reach out to Marie at [email protected] to set up a time to talk! She welcomes such conversations with this community.

We look forward to seeing you this Wednesday, November 6th!

Don't forget to follow us on social media!

With care,

Marie, Cameron, and Jodie
