the dry forest floor, creating a hazy, destructive atmosphere.

John,

European governments are on the verge of signing Bolsonaro’s death
sentence for the Amazon rainforest – we can still stop it!

The Amazon is experiencing the worst wildfires in decades while ranchers
intentionally set it ablaze to clear vast tracts of precious rainforest
for cattle and agriculture.

France has been blocking a Bolsonaro-era trade deal to import cheap beef,
soy and wood tainted by this destruction into Europe. But Macron is
buckling to pressure with reports suggesting he could wave the deal
through at the G20 summit in just 3 weeks!

We can make sure he holds strong – but we have to move fast.

If enough of us chip in, we could run a poll among French farmers - whose
political support Macron desperately needs - to show how deeply they
oppose the deal, and what he stands to lose if he backs it…then splash the
results all over the media.

Opposition from French farmers stopped this deal before. We can make sure
it happens again. Can you chip in to stop this Amazon-killing nightmare?

Utter destruction of the Amazon for profit is exactly what Bolsonaro
wanted when he agreed to this horror deal back in 2019.

Beef, soy, and other products have played a devastating role in the
Amazon’s recent history – driving illegal slash-and-burn clearing of
swathes of rainforest that has trashed precious ecosystems and put the
whole planet in peril.

The so-called Mercosur pact would throw petrol on the fire, lowering
duties on beef, soybean, and other exports to the EU from Brazil,
Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. And it would boost the global trade in
dangerous pesticides too.

And it’s Big Ag giants like the toxic meat company JBS that stand to
profit from this misery while the world’s lungs burn.

Macron himself has called Mercosur a “terrible deal”. But he’s a
self-serving politician – we need to make sure his words don’t magically
evaporate at next month’s summit. That’s why it’s vital we show him his
own interests will be profoundly harmed if he lets this through.

Macron is politically weak right now and sensitive to public opinion: this
could make all the difference, but we need your help. John,
we need to be doing everything we can to restore and protect the Amazon,
not open it up to further plunder. Can you help?
