John, David McMillan here — Adam Schiff’s Little Brother.
I’m reaching out to you one last time before this consequential election because your donation can still make a difference in turning out California voters — so please chip in.
When I was 5 years old, my mother took me to the Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles and we filled out an application. I wished for three things: a Big Brother, a puppy, and a beautiful world.
Adam walked in one day to volunteer, and out of all the applications, he chose mine.
I never imagined our first day on the beach in Venice would lead to us being in each other’s lives forever. From Adam’s wedding, my Yale graduation, his elections to the California Senate and Congress, my career in the entertainment industry, or him managing Trump’s impeachment and serving on the January 6 Committee. We have been there for each other at every big moment.
I’m not so “little” anymore, but Adam and I are still brothers because in all of the important ways, we’re family.
Donald Trump has spent the closing weeks of this race attacking Adam as “the enemy from within” and threatening to call out the military against him. When Trump looks out at the world and most of the people in it, he sees profound ugliness.
Adam and Vice President Kamala Harris see something else. They see our country’s potential, its possibility, and its beauty. They see the beautiful world we can create together — the one I wished for all those years ago.
