At this point in a campaign season, it can be easy to get bogged down by things like emails asking for money. That’s why today, I wanted to reach out personally with a reminder of what this election season is all about—community.

I'm a former Navy officer, the first in my family to go to college, and an education nonprofit leader. My family showed me how hard work, service, and giving back can make an impact here in places like El Monte, Baldwin Park, West Covina, and communities across the San Gabriel Valley.

With our community in mind, I ran for Congress in 2018 to advocate for people in our communities—from championing abortion care and reproductive health to supporting gun safety reform to protecting our environment and resources.

Now, I’m running for this critical open seat in Congress because the San Gabriel Valley deserves a community-focused representative.

John, there are just days left until polls close. Last-minute voter contact efforts are going to be crucial in securing blue seats in our beautiful valley and all across our state.

That’s why we’re undertaking our biggest Weekend of Action ever during this final weekend before Election Day!

John, a contribution goes a long way toward closing final budget gaps and ensuring our volunteers have enough resources this weekend. Will you please contribute any amount to support our final Weekend of Action? >>

Let’s finish strong!

In service,

Gil Cisneros

As an officer in the U.S. Navy, education nonprofit leader, Congressman, and Under Secretary of Defense, Gil Cisneros has dedicated his life to service, taking action, and getting results for people. From helping open doors of opportunity to San Gabriel Valley students through providing college scholarships, to standing up to the Gun Lobby in Congress, to protecting the right to comprehensive reproductive care for stationed service members while at the Pentagon, Gil has always stood up for his community and California values.

The son of a public school cafeteria worker and a Vietnam veteran, and the grandson of WWII veterans, Gil understood the importance of public service. After graduating high school, Gil enlisted in the U.S. Navy, driven by a desire to serve his nation and a determination to carve out a brighter future. He earned an ROTC Scholarship and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University. Gil also holds an MBA from Regis University and M.A. in Urban Education Policy from Brown University.

After the election of Donald Trump, Gil could not sit on the sidelines – he ran for California’s 39th Congressional District and won with the support of middle-class families and labor unions.

Now with MAGA extremists running the House of Representatives, Gil is running for California’s 31st Congressional District to stand up for the San Gabriel Valley and continue his mission of service, advocating for veterans, gun safety reform, economic opportunity for working families, climate action, and defending women’s rights.
