John,

A 28-year-old mother in Texas recently died an entirely preventable death - forced to wait 40 excruciating hours while doctors delayed treating her miscarriage because they feared criminal prosecution under the state's extreme abortion ban.

Josseli Barnica lay in agony as doctors refused to intervene until there was no fetal heartbeat, saying it would be "a crime" to help her. By the time they finally acted, she had developed a fatal infection. She never made it home to her one-year-old daughter.

And she's not alone. Just days ago in ProPublica’s reporting series, we also learned about 18-year-old Nevaeh Crain, who visited three different emergency rooms over 20 hours as her condition deteriorated.

A screenshot of a ProPublica article with the headline, “A Pregnant Teenager Died After Trying to Get Care in Three Visits to Texas Emergency Rooms.”

Even after she screened positive for life-threatening sepsis, doctors insisted on multiple ultrasounds to "confirm fetal demise" before providing care. Hours later, she, too, was dead.

This is the cruel reality of Republican abortion bans. And my opponent in Idaho's 2nd District, Mike Simpson, wants to bring these deadly restrictions nationwide. He publicly stated that overturning Roe was "correctly decided" and supports the Life at Conception Act, which would impose a total national abortion ban without exceptions.

We're seeing the devastating consequences of these bans play out in real time. Maternal mortality has shot up since Roe fell. Women are dying preventable deaths while doctors delay critical care, paralyzed by fear of criminal prosecution.

Here in Idaho, we already have one of the nation's strictest bans despite the fact that 70% of Idahoans believe abortion should be legal in some or all cases. The vast majority of us reject these dangerous, draconian restrictions.

Mike Simpson and his MAGA allies have made it clear - they don't care if women die as long as they can control all of our healthcare decisions. With just 3 days left until Election Day, we still have a chance to stop these dangerous policies. But I need your help to defeat Simpson and protect reproductive rights.

Will you rush $25, $50, $75, $100, or any amount today to help us win this fight? Every dollar helps us reach more voters with our message in these final crucial days.

I'm running for Congress because no one should die from a preventable condition just because extremist politicians want to control women's bodies.

As your representative, I will fight relentlessly to ensure no woman is ever denied life-saving care.

We have three days left to win this fight. Let's make them count.

Your next congressman,

-David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
