Dear Mr. xxxxxx:
Here we are at the beginning of November already. We are just a few days away from election day. From my official office, I cannot tell you who to vote for in any particular races, but I do encourage you to get out and exercise your precious right to vote. Because of the election, Congress has been in recess the entire month of October. I've used this time to work across the District and North Alabama. There is a lot to tackle once we get back to Washington right after Veterans Day. At the top of that list is getting a budget together for Fiscal Year 2025. I will of course have more details on that process in next month’s newsletter.
Oktoberfest in Cullman
We kicked October off helping to open the Oktoberfest celebration in Cullman. As I’m sure you know, Cullman has a rich; German heritage, which they celebrate annually with this event. I was glad to help kickoff the festivities. Events like this that celebrate our district, are big economic drivers, that help small business owners.
DAR 100th Anniversary
Earlier this month, I attended a gala celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Kate Duncan Smith Daughters of the American Revolution School. To celebrate this incredible achievement, I presented the school with a flag that was flown over the United States Capitol and a Congressional Record entry that congratulates Kate Duncan Smith DAR School for their continued commitment to providing exceptional educational and personal growth for their students.
Celebrating Adoption
I was honored to be asked to attend a reception hosted by Radiance Technologies in Huntsville to celebrate adoption and the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, which I co-chair. North Alabama has always played a big role in promoting adoption and working toward every child having a loving, forever home.
AUKUS Industry Forum
Ever since we won the space race, Alabama has been a cornerstone in our nation’s national security. Our efforts will be needed in the 21st century once more. On the world stage, the difference between the United States and our principal competitor, China, is that America has friends where China only has clients.
Our international alliances has never been more important than right now as we seek focus to maintain a free and strengthening deterrence in the Indo-Pacific. Today, there is no closer defense cooperation anywhere in the world than that between the US, the United Kingdom and Australia.
That is why I was proud to co-host, a first-of-its-kind industry forum at the University of Alabama in Huntsville that connected Administration officials and lawmakers with local companies and industry representatives.
The road to peace runs through Alabama, and this week was an exciting opportunity to showcase all that our state has to offer, as we strive to secure peace in the 21st century. With increased interest from the Department of Defense, as well as our Australian and British allies, this will only continue to increase the explosive growth we have seen in the defense industrial base and dual-use technologies production right here in North Alabama. Together, we will deliver advanced capabilities to our nation’s warfighters and by doing this, we will create a safer Indo-Pacific for generations to come.
Mary Frances Aderholt
Finally, I wanted to let you know about the passing of my mom. Mary Frances Aderholt passed away Saturday afternoon October 12, 2024, here in Haleyville. She was 88, and I thank God I had her as long as I did. The last time I was able to speak with her, I told her I loved her, and she told me that she loved me. She was the best mom a son could possibly have. Even though she was 88, I would have liked to have had her much, much longer. To be honest, it is especially tough, as I am an only child, and lost my dad 3 years ago. Thankfully, I have the strong arm of the Lord Jesus to cling to. It is also comforting to know she had a faith in Christ Jesus, and she is reunited with my dad, whom she loved so much. She was quite a lady, and very proper, and always wanted to do things first class. She, along with my dad, were my biggest cheerleaders. I look forward to seeing both of them again. I love you, Mom!
Veterans Day
I will be back in touch the first Saturday of December. Until then, I pray you have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Robert B. Aderholt
