With three days until Election Day, we are officially in the final stretch. Early voting has been underway in many states for weeks, but between now and Tuesday night, millions more will cast their ballots and participate in our democracy.
I started Democracy Docket in 2020 to keep you informed about what is happening to democracy in court. At the time, I had no idea how big Democracy Docket would become, but I knew it was filling an important need — to provide information, analysis and opinion about voting rights and elections in the courts.
Shortly after it was launched, the pandemic hit. Democracy Docket provided critical information about how voting rules were changing in response. In the 2020 post-election, it became the de facto scoreboard for Trump’s mounting losses. After the insurrection on Jan. 6, it provided a much-needed platform for pro-democracy figures to offer commentary.
Throughout the 2022 cycle, Democracy Docket expanded to meet the needs of you, the readers. It provided the most comprehensive coverage and database of cases related to the new wave of voter suppression laws sweeping the country. It tracked the various legislative efforts to shore up voting and after a red wave failed to materialize, it once again excelled in covering the post-election challenges in Arizona and elsewhere.
Even before Election Day, the 2024 election has already been the most litigated election in American history. Republicans have tried to use the courts to create chaos and spread misinformation. Pro-voting groups have fought back and largely won. At every stage Democracy Docket was there.
With a staff of 16, daily and weekly newsletters and a fast-growing YouTube channel, Democracy Docket is once again poised to provide unrivaled coverage of the post-election litigation landscape.
This spring, Democracy Docket launched its premium membership program. One of my favorite parts of that program is sharing in this email, every Saturday morning, my weekend reading list of key stories that have been overlooked or misunderstood. I call it News You Missed.
To make it more affordable, between now and Election Day, Democracy Docket has ([link removed]) lowered the price of a paid membership by $20 for a year of premium content ([link removed]) . Our hope is that it will make this content more accessible to you. I hope you consider taking advantage of this limited offer and enjoy all of Democracy Docket’s offerings at this critical juncture.
