As we gear up for Election Day and likely Pittsburgh finales from both presidential campaigns, yard sign warfare in Harmar ([link removed]) — fought off with with grease, glitter and fox urine — gives a glimpse into the stakes felt by local voters. If electoral angst is getting the better of you, though, we compiled a list of low- or no-cost stress busters ([link removed]) to help you through.

Also this week:
* Although most of the political ads flooding Pittsburgh-area airwaves are geared to picking the next White House occupant, multiple millions have recently flowed into state races in Pennsylvania. ([link removed])
* Anita Zhu struggled under the weight of her immigrant parents' expectations during her childhood in West Deer. But, she writes in a first-person essay ([link removed]) , since her acceptance at a leading university she's gained a new perspective on their tough love methods.
* Zoning contretemps are a staple of city politics as local leaders grapple with the ongoing housing crisis. New plans to modestly encourage density and development in Crafton ([link removed]) , though, show similar reverberations in the suburbs.

Join us at The Lab @ Silver Eye on Nov. 20 at 6-7:30 pm for an open conversation about building narrative and intimacy within photojournalism ([link removed]) . Together, we’ll look at how PublicSource photographers Quinn Glabicki and Steph Strasburg build access and incorporate artistic tools into journalism through unpacking some of their images for PublicSource. Suggested donation of $15.

* Gabe Mazefsky's earliest memories involve Pirates games watched with his dad during headier times for the Pittsburgh franchise in the 1980s. Now, any hopes he has for his father to enjoy another World Series rest on owner Bob Nutting selling. ([link removed])
* Establishing public restrooms Downtown emerged as a single point of consensus when stakeholders and advocates considered approaches to a growing unhoused population last year. But, emails show, the ensuing pilot was nearly thwarted by funding disputes ([link removed]) , even as the city and partners eyed expansions.
