Hi friend,
Here’s a fun fact you may not know about me: I was born at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford -- right here in Illinois’ 17th District.
Call me old-fashioned, but I think it’s important that we elect a representative who has called this district home for *at least* the majority of their lifetime.
This week, we learned that hasn’t been the case for my opponent, Joe McGraw.
From WIFR:
“The Illinois State Board of Elections confirmed the former 17th Judicial Circuit judge wasn’t a resident of the area he would represent if elected on Nov. 5.”
As someone representing my hometown, I’m definitely doing so with a heightened sense of duty. That’s what decades of building relationships and absorbing local values will do to you, and it’s why I always felt a deep sense of responsibility as a meteorologist -- helping my community understand the risks and make well-informed decisions.
So maybe that’s why WBEZ reported that McGraw has been “repeating Trump campaign talking points” on the trail instead of representing what’s popular in the district – he’s not going to be fighting for us, but for his MAGA mega-donors hoping to flip this seat.
We need support to make sure our voices come first, not MAGA. If you can, please chip in $10 to keep our momentum going. Let’s re-elect someone focused on IL-17 first.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
-Eric
