A lot is happening this week—it may be the most stressful week of the
year. With the stakes so high, it is human nature to be worried, even if
you can’t control what’s happening. Put that restless energy to work, and
focus on what you can control.

At this stage in campaigns, the only thing that matters is voter contact.
Here’s how you can help:

until polls close. Campaigns make projections based on how much money
they think they’ll raise; if they have a shortfall, they may have to
scale back the pace of their advertising. [ [link removed] ]Donate to a campaign you
care about, or chip in to Truth to Power to help us get our endorsed
candidates over the finish line.
 2. [ [link removed] ]Volunteer: Knocking on doors is the best, most effective form of
voter contact there is. If you have a couple hours to spare before
Election Day, sign up for a canvassing shift or two. How many people
we’re able to get to the polls in California swing seats could decide

opportunities near you.

Even though I’m not on the ballot this November, I’ve still been raising
money and knocking on doors for candidates in California I believe in:

I know that elections have a way of making folks lose perspective. During
my first campaign, I briefly thought that an unexpected package on my
doorstep could be a secret Republican tracking device. (It was actually my
son, with my credit card, ordering himself an Xbox without permission.)

My advice to avoid being overwhelmed: spend a day door knocking and then
take some well-earned time for self-care.
