John, in a moment like this, it's easy to feel uncertain, or powerless, about the direction our democracy is headed.
Anti-voter laws meant to silence our voices, disinformation to sow distrust our democracy, and politicians repeating the very same lies that led to the deadly January 6th attack.
And the truth is, one person can't do very much about the challenges we face on their own. But here's something you can do that will make a positive difference for hundreds, even thousands of voters: sponsor an Election Protection volunteer.
Every election year, ordinary folks across the country volunteer their time and energy to serve with Common Cause as a nonpartisan poll monitor. They tap into our nationwide network of voting rights experts – who train them on the specific voting rules for their community and give them a direct line to our legal team so we can take swift action to solve any problems voters face.
And John, the result is nothing short of extraordinary. This massive volunteer effort involves thousands of people across the country and helps literally millions of voters make their voices heard.
It brings me so much reassurance to hear from the voters we're helping – people who would have been turned away for not bringing the right identification, or who would have wasted time showing up at the wrong polling place, or even folks who didn't even realize they were eligible to vote!
It’s some of the most powerful work we do here at Common Cause – empowering those who otherwise wouldn't have a say in the decisions that affect them and their families. I hope you can agree, John: this is what democracy is all about.
That’s why I'm asking you, right now, to make an immediate investment in these final days of our Protect the Vote 2024 effort by sponsoring one or more volunteers.
It costs us around $50, start-to-finish, to get one additional volunteer on the ground for early voting and Election Day – and we're working directly with our volunteers right up to the last minute to make sure that number is as high as possible.
So, if you're ready to step into our collective power, and take a bold stand against the forces of voter suppression, will you show us you're with us by sponsoring a volunteer today?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Our actions in these final few days will make all the difference for what sort of democracy we leave for the next generation.
I'm glad to know we can count on you.
