Updates on Pennsylvania voting rights cases
* A Pennsylvania judge ruled ([link removed]) that Erie County must reopen early in-person voting and can ship overnight replacement ballots to out of state voters. Nearly 17,000 voters still have not received their requested mail-in ballots.
* The Democratic National Committee (DNC) urged ([link removed]) the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to rule that counties must count undated and misdated mail-in ballots during the Nov. 5 election. A lower court issued a narrow ruling on the matter that only applied to a previous special election.

The latest on Georgia election lawsuits
* A Georgia judge rejected ([link removed]) the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) request to require Fulton County to hire additional Republican poll workers for Election Day.
* Shortly after Georgia voters sued ([link removed]) to extend the ballot return deadline for over 3,000 voters in Cobb County who still haven’t received mail-in ballots, the DNC filed ([link removed]) a similar lawsuit against the county.

RNC asks North Carolina Supreme Court to pause pro-voting ruling
* Today, the Republican National Committee asked ([link removed]) the North Carolina Supreme Court to disenfranchise certain U.S. citizens and military members living abroad from voting absentee in the battleground state. Lower courts rejected ([link removed]) the Republicans' request.

What apathetic death penalty rulings tell us about the U.S. Supreme Court
* In the wake of Missouri's execution of Marcellus Williams, it is clear that the U.S. Supreme Court is dedicated to maintaining a strict conservative status quo — even if that means losing innocent lives, Keith Thirion, interim co-president and vice president of strategy at Alliance for Justice, argues ([link removed]) in a new piece.

New podcast episode of Defending Democracy
* For months, Kerry Washington has been on the ground collecting questions from voters across the country about the election. With a few days until Election Day, she joins Marc in a new episode of Defending Democracy to answer what will happen on November 5th and after. Watch ([link removed]) it on YouTube and listen ([link removed]) wherever you get your podcasts.
* Washington’s message to Scandal fans who wish her fictional character Olivia Pope could step in and help: “She can't vote. She can't make phone calls. She can't donate. She can't knock on doors. She can't do what you can do to help protect this democracy. So, you have much more power than Olivia Pope.”
