Let’s get right to it: the Biden-Harris administration just sent $425 million in supplies and aid to Ukraine, while Americans facing crises here at home are left struggling. With one quick Executive Order, that money was directed overseas. But when it comes to helping folks in our own backyard, it’s an uphill battle.
Take the North Carolina linemen in Asheville—they’ve been forced to strike after working for weeks without pay. And it’s not just them. Hurricane Helene victims across hard-hit states are still desperately waiting for assistance.
That’s why I joined the entire Tennessee delegation to urge President Biden to approve Governor Lee’s request for additional disaster assistance. Our neighbors here in Tennessee are facing serious challenges as they work to rebuild their lives and communities, but this administration’s focus is clear—and it’s 5,000 miles away.
And where’s Vice President Kamala Harris on all this? Out campaigning, completely silent on these issues. She’s shown exactly where her priorities lie, choosing to funnel taxpayer dollars across the ocean rather than addressing urgent needs right here at home.
It’s frustrating to watch our government prioritize foreign interests over Americans’ well-being. And here’s the kicker—the mainstream media isn’t even covering it. They refuse to hold this administration accountable or shine a light on the real struggles our communities are facing.
We can’t keep putting our own people second. Yes, foreign aid has a role, but that should never mean hard-working Americans, hurricane victims, and unpaid workers get left behind. Prioritizing foreign interests over American lives shows a total lack of respect for the people who built this country and keep it running.
Americans deserve leaders who genuinely care for their communities and prioritize their needs. As you head to the polls on Tuesday, November 5, remember this. It’s time to put Americans first.
