Staying in touch with Kansans however I can is incredibly important to me. Hi John.

Recently, I was honored to meet with a great local community organization in Overland Park – the Heartland Santa Fe Trail Cosmopolitan Club.

Like so many others, they’re especially concerned about the cost of health care. I regularly hear from hardworking Kansans about how they’re struggling with skyrocketing health care costs. It’s clear that the time to act is now.

That’s why I stood up to Big Pharma and voted for the law that finally caps the cost of insulin at $35 a month for seniors on Medicare. It also gives Medicare the power to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices.

It was a pleasure to join the Heartland Santa Fe Trail Cosmopolitan Club recently in Overland Park. I was honored to receive their certificate of recognition for pushing for the new cap on insulin prices.

No one should ever have to choose between getting lifesaving treatment and going bankrupt. Unfortunately, far too many Kansans — and folks across the country — struggle to get the care they need or are burdened with skyrocketing costs.

Thankfully, the new law that caps insulin prices at $35 a month for seniors is making real progress for Kansans. I’m also supporting a separate bill, the Affordable Insulin Now Act, to extend this cap to everyone – not just those on Medicare.

I was also pleased to see that Medicare finished its first negotiations for the first ten prescriptions. Thanks to these negotiations, prices for these medicines will be reduced by 79 percent!

There’s certainly a lot more work that needs to be done to lower health care costs. But I know we can keep making life more affordable because when Kansans stand up to special interests, we win.

It’s an honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representative. If you have any questions or would like to share your views, please feel free to contact me.

My warmest regards,
