We hope you had a great week and a not-too-spooky Halloween. Today we kickoff November, which is National Veterans and Military Families Month or often referred to as Military Family Appreciation Month! As we also move toward Veterans Day, it is so important to take these opportunities to recognize and uplift the service of our military communities. We look forward to the opportunities to do so this month and in the work ahead of us in Congress.

Happy Diwali to all who celebrate in communities across New Jersey and around the world. We wish you all a joyous and prosperous Festival of Lights as the holiday reminds us of the triumph of good over evil. May the light of the diyas be a source of reflection and renewal for the new year.

Breaking Ground in Burlington County

This week, Congressman Kim joined the Burlington County Commissioners and other local leaders to break ground on Burlington County’s first-ever emergency shelter. In 2022, the Congressman helped secure federal project funding to make the facility possible and address a long-overdue community need. The first of its kind in Burlington, this shelter will not just look after people’s safety, but also help set them up for healthy and secure lives after they leave. As we continue working to address affordability and housing access issues, this shelter will help look after people’s immediate needs and uphold the basic right for everyone to have a roof over their head.

Continued Support and Service 12 Years after Superstorm Sandy

This week, we recognized the 12 year anniversary since Superstorm Sandy hit our New Jersey communities, we remember the lives it took, and reflect on the destruction still being felt today. As neighbors continued fighting to recover from the storm, the New Jersey Organizing Project came together to help. This past weekend, Congressman Kim joined them to recognize their 10 years of service as we continue working together for further storm relief, investments in climate resiliency, and to support survivors still recovering. We also continue our work to reform the broken disaster relief system that left too many in our state behind.

Congressman Kim was honored to be recognized at their event with an award for his legislative work supporting NJOP’s mission and New Jerseyans. We are inspired by their commitment and dedicated to the work ahead.

October Service Spotlight

As always, we are so happy to be able to highlight incredible people serving our local community. For October, we highlighted Jim who has dedicated his life to supporting his son James, who was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at a young age, and helping other kids facing the same disease.

Celebrating National First Responders Day

This week, we honored the brave men and women in our communities who serve to keep our loved ones and neighbors safe and healthy. Thank you to all our first responders, we are proud to work in Congress to have your backs with the tools, resources, and support you deserve.

Spreading Awareness About Breast Cancer

This October, we recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In Congress, we are proud to join in the fight against breast cancer. From funding for early detection programs, critical research, to closing care gaps, Congressman Kim is working to support and ensure women across the country can always access affordable and life-saving care.

Medicare Open Enrollment is OPEN

From now through December 7th, you can head to medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE to look over coverage and compare options to make sure you have a plan that’s right for you.

Through the Inflation Reduction Act, Congressman Kim is proud to have helped cap insulin costs at $35/month for seniors on Medicare and deliver critical savings on their prescription drug costs.
