I’m spending the final days before the 2024 election in Pennsylvania — a state that’s critical for both the Presidential election and for control of the U.S. Congress.

I recently held events with two of my favorite Social Security champions — Susan Wild (D-PA) and Matt Cartwright (D-PA).

Both Wild and Cartwright are champions of expanding Social Security, lowering drug prices, and improving Medicare. And they are in two of the closest races in the country.

Rep. Susan Wild is a key leader on lowering drug prices. She frequently reminds her fellow Democrats that taking on Big Pharma’s greed is both good politics and a moral necessity. Wild played a huge role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act, which finally gave Medicare the power to negotiate lower prices on key prescription drugs.

Wild’s Republican opponent, Ryan Mackenzie, supports a so-called balanced budget amendment — which would make it impossible for Social Security and Medicare to pay promised benefits.

Rep. Matt Cartwright is one of only four House Democrats who represents a district that Donald Trump won twice.
