Even if you can’t vote, you can still make an impact this election season in meaningful ways. Civic engagement goes beyond casting a ballot! As NAL CEO and President Ghida Dagher shared in a recent Marie Claire article, her journey started at 13 by phone banking, where she reached out to Arabic-speaking voters to discuss the importance of voting. 

You, too, can get involved by volunteering for campaigns, having conversations with family and friends, or engaging your community. Every action helps shape the outcome of elections and strengthens democracy in the process!

Please welcome our new Communications Director, Jessica Delos Reyes! 🎉

Jessica previously led communications efforts for the U.S. Olympic/Paralympic national governing bodies of USA Shooting and USA Swimming over the past decade. Following the events of 2020, Jessica wanted to take the next step in utilizing her skills as a communicator to facilitate change, finding her way to our Ready to Lead and Ready to Win trainings in 2022, then joining the Board of Directors the following year. 

Jessica hails from Billings, Montana where her Filipino-immigrant father and White Earth Chippewa mother still live. 


“I often say that it’s my immigrant experience that grounds me, but it’s my American experience that propels me.”

The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan delved into NAL CEO and President, Ghida Dagher’s upbringing, her experiences as a refugee, and her mission to build a more inclusive democracy by empowering immigrants to step into their power.
