These voters are swinging harder than the LA Dodgers…

The Dodgers may have defeated the Yankees in a 4-1 victory (or upset, if you’re a native New Yorker ([link removed]) ), but that doesn’t mean that Freddie Freeman and Shohei Otani have the strongest swings in the country.

If you can believe it, roughly 5% of voters are still not set on who they’ll be voting for in this election, and they make up the swing voters who could decide who wins on Tuesday. But hopefully we don't have to pull their arm ([link removed]) too hard to get them to cast their ballot for Harris.

Look, we get being undecided about whether to finally delete Hinge for the eighth time. Or being split on whether to tell your friend that her hair really does look like a pencil ([link removed]) . But undecided at THIS point in the election? It’s hard to imagine.

Luckily, in our final survey of swing voters ([link removed]) before Election Day, we find that swing voters are hearing more positive information about Harris’ agenda than Trump’s agenda or Project 2025 (yes, we know they’re the same thing).

[link removed]

Importantly, we also find that swing voters are more concerned about Trump’s extremism than Harris’ liberal agenda, at an even higher rate than likely voters overall.

[link removed]

Despite these strong signals for Harris, we still find that voters can better explain what Trump stands for than what Harris stands for. Honestly, we thought that Trump only stands when a comically evil billionaire walks into the room, but maybe that’s what they meant after all.

Swing voters might only know a little about the most pressing issues this election, but If Beyoncé or Springsteen can’t persuade them to make clear judgment calls, then maybe no one can.

Here are some other highlights from DFP this week:

Serving up french fries and racism

We’ve been through so much in this election. Remember when Ron DeSantis launched his failed campaign on a glitchy X broadcast with Elon Musk? Remember the existence of No Labels? Remember Joe Biden?!

If you feel like you’ve aged 10 years since you started hearing about the 2024 election, you’re not alone. The only thing that feels longer than this election cycle is the Wicked press tour.

In this final stretch, we polled voters ([link removed]) to see which recent news stories have broken through. We find that voters have heard “a lot” about Trump serving fries at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Pennsylvania (52%), Harris calling Trump a “fascist” (46%), and Trump making racist remarks at his Madison Square Garden rally, including one speaker calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” (45%).

[link removed]

At least half of all likely voters had some knowledge of every news story mentioned in our poll. Unfortunately, this survey was conducted before Biden’s addition to garbagegate… Let’s just put Joe in the panda costume ([link removed]) until Tuesday, please.

And the Razzie goes to… ExxonMobil!

Somebody needs to alert Gal Gadot, Jared Leto, and James Corden, because it turns out voters really do not support federal funding for bad actors.

Of course, we mean the bad corporate actors who cause immense harm to our planet and communities (although Jared Leto’s performance in Morbius was maybe just as bad).

Even though ExxonMobil’s Baytown Olefins Plant has committed at least 25 air quality violations over the last five years, the company could receive more than $330 million in DOE clean energy grant funding. That’s just one example of federal funding going to bad actors, but a strong majority of voters ([link removed]) want developers to be in compliance with labor, environmental, and civil rights laws before receiving funding

[link removed]

Voters largely support the recent investments in clean infrastructure projects but want developers to comply with federal regulations in order to receive federal funds. It’s giving bare minimum!
