Regardless of what happens on Election Day, we know one thing is certain: The American people need some guarantees when it comes to ethics in government.

That’s why we joined Campaign Legal Center and five other good government groups in sending a letter to Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, urging them to implement strong ethics guidelines that will bring oversight and accountability to the executive branch if they are elected.

The next president has an opportunity to improve public trust in government by implementing a strong, binding ethics pledge and appointing an ethics czar. Whoever the next president may be—they should take this opportunity.

We’ve taken on groundbreaking work that no one else has:

• In 2022, we sued to remove Otero County, NM Commissioner Couy Griffin from office and disqualify him from holding future public office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, based on his involvement in the insurrection. We won.
• We called on Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito to recuse from January 6th related cases and to resign for their egregious conflicts of interest.
• We called on the Senate to investigate Jared Kushner after he received billions of dollars from the Saudi Arabian government, leveraging his relationships he made as a government employee (which raises all kinds of national security concerns).
• And we filed an amicus brief urging a federal appeals court to remove Judge Aileen Cannon from the Mar-A-Lago classified documents case because of her clear pro-Trump bias.
