Celebrating 20 years of ground breaking work, STOP THE TRAFFIK (STT) is embarking on a new leadership chapter. Founded by Ruth Dearnley and Steve Chalke, STT has grown into a global movement focused on dismantling human trafficking networks through intelligence-led prevention ([link removed]) . Under Ruth’s guidance as CEO, STT developed the Traffik Analysis Hub (TAHub), ([link removed]) the world’s richest trafficking database, whose insights have reached over 28 million vulnerable individuals and empowered governments, businesses, and communities to intercept trafficking routes and disrupt traffickers’ systems. As STT evolves, Ruth transitions to President, focused on expanding global partnerships, while seasoned anti-trafficking leader Rebekah Lisgarten takes over as CEO, dedicated to building on Ruth’s legacy. Together, Ruth and Rebekah are leading STT into its next chapter, united in their vision
of a world where people are no longer bought or sold.

Nabil, a young Yemeni student fleeing war, was thrown into the icy waters at the Greek border, robbed of hope and forced into despair by human traffickers seeking to exploit his vulnerability. Determined to change his fate, he reached out to STOP THE TRAFFIK (STT). Through STT, he received the legal support needed to rebuild his life. Nabil’s story reflects the struggles of millions who attempt dangerous journeys to Greece and Turkey, unaware of the high risks of exploitation. To tackle this, STT launched the AMAN Safety Project ([link removed]) , which over five years has empowered over 400,000 at-risk migrants with vital, life-saving information through targeted social media. This success is rooted in the trust-based relationships STT has forged with NGOs and governments, enabling precise data-sharing to reach those most vulnerable. By working together to create a currency of trust, STT and its partners offer migrants
a real chance at safety and a brighter future.

In alignment with October's Black History Month theme, Reclaiming Narratives, STOP THE TRAFFIK (STT) reveals how Black and ethnic minorities face disproportionate human trafficking, often unseen due to significant gaps in trafficking data. These data omissions indicate deeper systemic issues that silence the exploitation stories of these communities, as explained by Lucrezia Bosio, STT’s Data Engagement Manager. This Black History Month, STT invites readers to reflect on the missing narratives and the pressing need for visibility and support for all victims.

Amidst headlines dominated by the U.S. Presidential Election, global conflicts and a dramatic increase in natural disasters, the issue of modern slavery and human trafficking can easily fade into the background. Yet, UK Anti-Slavery Day, on October 18th, serves as a powerful reminder of the silent suffering endured by millions around the world. Shockingly, 49.6 million people are trapped in modern slavery today – equivalent to the entire population of Colombia. Approximately 1 in 3 of these victims are vulnerable children, who have been robbed of their freedom and their innocence. UK Anti-Slavery Day provides an opportunity to focus public attention on those being exploited and to reinvigorate the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking.
Anti-Slavery Day ([link removed]) is an opportunity to raise awareness and drive action so that we can create a world where no human being is ever bought and sold.
