River to River Greenway
Valley Park Streambank Stabilization

The City of Mendota Heights is working with Dakota County, Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), and the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization (LMRWMO) to conduct streambank stabilization and volume reduction in Valley Park, as part of the River to River Greenway project.

This project is phase one of an in-depth rehabilitation of the trail system in Valley Park. Following the streambank stabilization, Dakota County will replace all bridges and pavement in the trail corridor. Future work (projected for 2027) includes the trail segment south of Marie Ave., including a proposed underpass of Dodd Rd., north of Highway 62.

As phase one work begins in late November, park visitors will see significant impacts to the use of the trails. Work is scheduled to be complete in about 10 weeks.

Street Sweeper
Fall Street Sweeping

To prevent sediment from entering the City’s storm drains, street sweeping is conducted in the spring and fall. This year, fall street sweeping begins on Monday, Nov. 4 and should wrap up by the end of the week. You can help by moving vehicles from the street and keeping trash cans behind the curb line. Remember, it is illegal to place yard waste and debris onto City streets.
