**Dallas at a Tipping Point: Violent Crime Rises, HERO Amendments Needed Now**

Dallas received a harsh reminder of the crime crisis in our city with reports of yet another violent shooting [link removed] over the weekend. At 2:00 AM on Saturday, police responded to a chaotic scene in Oak Cliff, where a young man was gunned down in an altercation outside a local business. With crime spiraling out of control, the truth is painfully clear:

**Dallas simply can’t afford to wait any longer. **

**That’s why the HERO propositions (S, T, U) are on the ballot this November 5th.**

These city charter amendments are our best chance to get Dallas back on track by hiring 1,000 more police officers, ensuring that our streets are better protected, and drastically improving police response times. Currently, it takes an average of over two hours [link removed] for officers to respond to major violent disturbances. For non-critical emergencies, Dallas residents are waiting nearly 5 hours for help. The HERO amendments will fix this once and for all—

**but they won’t pass without your vote.**

**City leaders have had plenty of chances.** For years, they’ve made empty promises, watched crime rates rise, and let our neighborhoods suffer. They care more about political games than the safety of Dallas families. HERO isn’t just about adding police—

**it’s about accountability.** For the first time, these amendments will give you the power to influence the city manager’s fate, whether it’s cutting bonuses or firing them outright.

**It’s time to hold our leaders accountable and force them to do their jobs.**

Of course, opponents are scrambling [link removed] to stop HERO, spreading fear that hiring more officers will bankrupt the city. But here’s the truth: what’s more expensive? Properly funding the police, or letting crime destroy our neighborhoods and drive businesses out of town?

Don’t forget, two council members even conspired to sneak in illegal charter amendments to undermine HERO and weaken public safety efforts. Thankfully, the Texas Supreme Court stood with the people and removed these corrupt amendments from the ballot, proving once again that

**it’s the citizens who have the power to demand real change.**
