Friend --

I'll start with the good news: Because of your incredible support, we were able to outraise my opponent David Valadao last quarter by more than $100,000. We're also proud of how we did it. The vast majority of the donations we received were small-dollar contributions on emails just like this one.

The bad news? Because Valadao has a history of taking tens of thousands from corporate PACs, we found out that he ended March with more cash on hand. And that doesn't even count the $1.6 million in extra super PAC support that was recently earmarked for his campaign.

In sum, our first quarter fundraising effort was great, but we need to keep pushing:

Friday at midnight marks the mid-way point of the current fundraising quarter. Unfortunately, we're tracking behind pace to hit our goal and need an additional $25,000 to catch up.

Will you make a $3 donation to our grassroots-powered campaign? We can't risk being outspent, and your contributions will help us combat the high-dollar, negative attacks headed our way.

These deadlines may seem arbitrary, but I promise you they are not.

They are meticulously calculated because the money we raise translates directly into how robust our voter contact efforts will be.

Strong grassroots fundraising is also an important metric for the press and pundits who measure the competitiveness of our race and can (hopefully) deter PACs from coming in to support Valadao anymore than they already have.

Help us raise $25,000 before the end of the week. Anything you can give will help us reach our goal, but according to our records $3 from you would be perfect.

All my very best,

TJ
