Tell the European Parliament not to allow deforestation law delay

This year ferocious wildfires burned tens of thousands of acres of Amazon rainforest to the ground.

We should be pulling out all the stops to protect the rest, but Europe’s leaders want to delay a new law that would do just that.

John,

The worst wildfires in two decades just turned tens of thousands of acres of pristine Amazon rainforest to ash.

This extraordinarily precious place is heading full speed towards a death spiral. But Europe's leaders want to DELAY a new law that would protect it -- all so they can boost big business profits.

We have one last chance to stop this reckless move. The EU parliament is about to vote. Let's show every single MEP that people want them to protect the Amazon, not corporate greed. Sign and share:

Protect rainforests not big business profits!

The new deforestation law is a game-changer. The EU is one of the world’s most important markets and this law requires any product imported and sold to be deforestation-free, from the beef we eat to the coffee we drink. In just 12 months, it would stop an area 14 times the size of Paris being chopped down.

Until weeks ago, the law was a done deal, due to kick-in on 1st January. But then big business started lobbying furiously for a delay, claiming it would be a massive bureaucratic headache and they needed more time to comply.

It’s a lie. If they win this delay, they will use every trick in the book to kill off the law completely, aided by dozens of newly elected far right MEPs who want to dismantle Europe’s environmental policies.

Our community is built for moments like this. Tens of thousands of Ekō members have forced MEPs to pass laws, taking on some of the most powerful industries in the world -- like when Ekō members won national bans on harmful pesticides, like glyphosate. Now let’s do it again for the rainforest.

Protect rainforests not big business profits!
