I’m an actress, director, singer, longtime activist, and, above all, a citizen of our great democracy. And as a citizen with a platform larger than most, I believe it is not only my right but also my duty to express my concerns. So here goes, John:

I’m concerned by what I’m seeing in Pennsylvania and national Republicans’ ruthless efforts to unseat Bob Casey and flip this battleground red.

If the GOP succeeds in flipping Pennsylvania red, they’ll almost certainly regain control of both the Senate and the White House, threatening everything from voting rights to women’s rights to the fight against climate change.

That’s why outside interest groups have started spending upwards of $150 million to defeat Bob. The stakes this November are higher than ever before. So before I go on, can you please split a donation between Bob’s re-election campaign and Democratic Values?

I’m committed to electing lawmakers like Bob Casey, who believes that everyone deserves a fair shot at getting ahead and staying ahead. Bob’s opponent on the other hand is a Connecticut mega-millionaire who will do and say anything to help his own bottom line.
