Hi John,
All eyes are on the United States right now. That’s because the current U.S. election could have critical—and global—implications for the future of women’s rights, sexual and reproductive rights, and the right to abortion.

I live in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where we’re working hard every day to bring abortion access to women displaced from their homes by violent conflict in North Kivu. As a health professional and advocate serving women and girls in crisis, I have witnessed firsthand the damaging effects of the previous U.S. administration’s stringent anti-abortion policies on U.S. humanitarian funding.

Simply put, harmful U.S. foreign policies have severely impacted the lives, health and futures of countless women and girls. And the threats are multiplying as the global anti-rights movement gains traction, emboldened by the repeal of Roe v. Wade and the anti-rights agenda pushed by U.S. actors and politicians.
