Hi John,
Microplastics have made their way beyond our oceans. They’re now in our food, our water, our air — and even, almost unbelievably, in our blood, breastmilk, and in the placentas of unborn babies. [1]
This isn’t some distant problem. It’s happening right now, to you, to me, to our children. And while we still don’t know all the long-term health implications, we do know this: we still have time to act. [2]
I know the problem feels overwhelming, I feel that too, but there is hope. In just a few weeks world leaders will gather to negotiate the UN Global Plastics Treaty. This international agreement could be our biggest chance to end plastic pollution for good.
A strong treaty could mandate global reductions in plastic production, ban harmful single-use plastics, and force corporations to take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of their products.
John, if enough people reading this email tell Keir Starmer to protect us from microplastics, his government will be forced to address the issue publicly at the Treaty negotiations. Will you help and sign today?

You might wonder, “Can my voice make a difference?” It absolutely can. Just recently, your voices helped convince Labour to lift the de facto ban on new onshore wind farms and ban disposable vapes.
Together, we’ve taken on big challenges before. We can do it again. [3]
This isn’t only about oceans or beaches. It’s about protecting our health, our children, our grandchildren — a chance to leave a healthy, thriving planet for future generations.
John, we’re at a tipping point for our planet’s health. Will you stand with us and fight for our planet’s future?

Every day, I watch as the situation unfolds with a mix of concern but also hope: shoppers embracing re-use and refill options, scientists innovating biodegradable alternatives, and everyday heroes cleaning up their local environments.
But it's not enough. We need more. We need YOU.
We’re building a movement of strong, passionate people to demand a Global Plastics Treaty. Your signature isn’t just a name — it’s a sign that you care about the future of our planet.
This is our chance to end the age of plastic. To offer a future where the health of our oceans, children and planet is not at risk of microplastics.
In hope and determination,
Laura
