John, I wanted to share this fact with you: there are 4.4 million Americans who are currently 18 years old, many of whom are in high school. [1]
And after Taylor Swift encouraged her fans to get registered, our voter registration partners reported a record number of new voter registrations.
The good news is, millions of Americans will cast their first-ever votes this year. The bad news? Far too many will face newly-passed anti-voter laws standing between them and the ballot box. These laws are discouraging by design and could result in thousands of voters going home disappointed without casting their ballot.
That’s why we’ve constructed our largest Election Protection program besides 2020's historic effort. From the first primary, we’ve been training thousands of Election Protection volunteers to greet voters heading to the polls during early voting and on Election Day – ready to help voters overcome any obstacles that anti-voter politicians or election deniers throw at them.
When I think about the young people who will cast their first-ever votes this year, I’m reminded of when I cast my first vote. I remember feeling empowered at having a voice that mattered. Today, I feel a sense of obligation to make sure every voter has a positive experience like mine, so they keep coming back to the polls in 2026, 2028, and beyond.
I’ll be honest, John. We’re going against the full forces of voter suppression across the country. We can meet this challenge, but doing so will require a serious, nationwide investment.
And that's why we need your help: it costs $50 to recruit, train, equip, and place each Election Protection volunteer. If you chip in $50 today, your donation will help us send one additional volunteer into the field to make a real, measurable impact on hundreds of voters.
Your contribution could be the difference between someone becoming a life-long voter or going home disappointed. Will you chip in $50 – or anything you can spare – today? >>
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
The stakes are just too high to sit on the sidelines. We’re committed to protecting the right to vote and to empowering the millions of Americans who will be casting their ballots in a few days, many for the first time.
